What should you charge? Part One

Let's call this part one, and it's the core of everything on this topic.
I was going to write a post here about how to set your prices so you are in alignment with them but the post got so long it trailed into the-beginning-of-a-book status. So let's take this in pieces and walk through this immense topic in multiple blog posts.

The simple answer to what you should charge is: charge what you love.

If you are not in love with your prices you are not in alignment with them and then satisfying, sweet-spot clients won't appear.

But it's not just love as in in-love like adoration. I adore my prices! It's also love like IN THE STATE OF LOVE or peace. As in I feel at peace when my prices are not in alignment with someone else.

Whoa.

That's a big one.

One time, long ago, I had a conversation with a high-powered woman who is not only an attorney but also a shamanic practitioner. She told me my prices were off-putting, but not for the reasons I assumed. "They are too low," she said. "High-powered clients won't schedule a session because they won't trust the work. You have to charge higher to get them to believe it's good." I'm paraphrasing, but the conversation stuck with me. "Charge at least $200 a session. Even $299. Then they will schedule."

I am not telling you this so that you raise your prices. (Heck, I don't charge that right now.) I am telling you this because I want you to hear this with every fibre of your being:

Your prices will always exclude someone.

You cannot make them low enough that anyone and everyone will schedule. By the nature of human perception, any price you pick will turn some on and turn some off.

So who do you please? What group of people do you pick to satisfy with your pricing? None of them. You please yourself.

OH MY GOSH that brings up a whole host of other issues, so I will go over them in other posts. But I promise you this, when you feel in love with what you charge and when you feel at peace with what you charge you will light up for those who are in alignment with it too, and it will be a joyful experience from scheduling to payment to session to appreciation after.

And if, right now, you don't feel love for your prices, start with the decision:

I want to love my prices.

And let the Universe start to deliver you the information, the conversations, the opportunities and the life experience that will get you there.
